1 of mine did in my case(sport500). Both turbos smoked. 1 had worse shaft play which I guess was worn bearings, which made the wheel rub on the housing, which created extra cost and time for the rebuild. I'm not sure which way most turbos fail. I guess if you catch the problems early enough, it would be rebuildable, but if you keep boosting worn turbos it probably wears them to the point of a rebuild not being worth the cost. I went ahead and did a rebuild on both my sport500s. Sent them to Coz, who sends them to someone else. Coz advertized a $700 sport500 rebuild. Total ended up being over $1000 and took 4 extra weeks because Coz said a wheel was damaged and he had to order it from Japan. Wish I would have just worked a few extra hours, and spent the extra $$$$ for new ones, because my rebuilds both smoke now!
